About Michael Tapper — Lancashire Watercolours

Artist Statement
I use watercolour to explore the movement, reflections, and atmosphere of water. I’m fascinated by the challenge of capturing its “wetness” and the shifting shapes it creates. Watercolour, with its transparency and fluid behaviour, is the perfect medium for this.

Themes & Inspiration
Many of my paintings feature bridges, inspired by the meeting point between man?made structures and the natural environment. This interplay of permanence and flow shapes much of my work. I draw inspiration from long walks in the Lake District and the rural North West, as well as the character and rhythm of urban settings.

Approach
Whether I’m painting a quiet riverbank or a busy city scene, I aim to create a sense of place through light, reflection, and atmosphere. My goal is to allow each piece to feel both grounded and quietly contemplative, inviting viewers into the moment I experienced.
